Certification of products for Canadian energy efficiency

On 12 October, Amendment 11 to the Canadian energy efficiency regulations was published in the Canada Gazette Part II. The effective date for mandatory compliance of products such as TVs, compact audio products, video players/recorders and external power supplies is 12 April, 2012. From this date all product categories covered in this regulation must be certified by an SCC accredited certification body such as Nemko (ref. www.scc.ca ).

Mandatory labeling is required which includes marking the product with the Energy Efficiency Verification (EEV) mark of the certification body.
