IECEx System
IECEx is an international system equivalent to the IECEE CB scheme, but especially for explosion protected (hazardous location) equipment. Nemko is an approved test laboratory, certification body and accepted CB within the IECEx Certified Service Facilities program. In addition, Nemko is able to authorize the IECEx Mark.
As with ATEX, IECEx is a conformity assessment scheme which provides assurance that equipment and systems in “Hazardous Locations” or “Explosive Atmospheres” or Ex Areas systems are manufactured and operated according to the highest International Standards of safety.
Testing
Nemko can perform assessment and test the equipment according to ATEX and/or IECEx requirements.

Certification Process
The certification process of electrical equipment for use in hazardous location can be complex, confusing, expensive and time-consuming. Therefore it is crucial to have good communication and close team work during the whole certification process.
ATEX & IECEx Marking
Marking of Ex equipment is a requirement. It is essential for allowing a user to consider an appropriate piece of equipment for a specific hazardous atmosphere. For instance, it may warn of special conditions for safe use, special parameters, hazards that may occur etc. Marking also provides traceability and references the certification and certifying body. To achieve certification, a manufacturer must at the very least provide a drawing illustrating the nameplate(s) that details the relevant marking.
Pre-evaluation
Nemko offers pre-evaluation during the early stages of the product development cycle, from the initial evaluation of the product design to testing as well as project management during the different development stages.
QAN/QAR
Quality Assurance for Ex products
Nemko is able to perform Quality Assurance Notification (QAN) according to the ATEX Directive and Quality Assurance Report (QAR) according to IECEx requirements.
ATEX
