GS Certification
PAH testing is mandatory for GS mark certifications from April 1, 2008, according to ZEK 01-08 issued by the Central Experience Exchange Committee (ZEK)
PAHs are substances the can have the following harmful effects:
- Likely causes of cancer in humans
- Causes skin disorders in humans and animals
- Causes harmful developmental and reproductive effects
PAH comes mostly from one of the following areas in the environment:
- Wildfires and prescribed burnings
- Primary aluminum production
- Coooking ovens
- Residential wood stoves
- Burning of scrap tires
- Open trash burning
- On-road vehicles
- Asphalt roofing manufacturing
- Industrial boilers
- Meat char broilers
