C-Nemko
Electrical and Electronic apparatus covered by the Canadian Electrical Code must be certified to recognized product safety standards.
The organizations that certify these products must be accredited by the Standards Council of Canada and recognized by Provincial Regulators as competent to certify products.
Nemko can now certify the electrical safety aspects of the following categories of products for the Canadian Market:
- Information Technology Equipment to CSA C22.2 60950.1
- Telecommunications Equipment to CSA C22.2 60950.1
- Test and Measurement Equipment to CSA C22.2 61010.1
- Audio/Video Equipment to CSA C22.1 60065
- Electro-Medical Equipment to CSA C22.2 601.1
Successful testing and certification by Nemko to these standards will allow manufacturers to use the C-Nemko Certification mark.
Other facts about the C-Nemko Certification mark:
- The use of this mark also requires factory surveillance and annual license fees.
- In addition to having your testing performed at Nemko, test reports can be accepted from laboratories that have been qualified by Nemko Canada to the requirements of ISO 17025. Witness testing is also an option.
- Laboratories wishing to be qualified to provide test data under this Nemko Certification program must contact Nemko Canada to arrange for qualification prior to any submission of test data.
- As with other Product Safety Certification programs, follow up inspections are an integral aspect of the Canadian certification process.
