As of October 1, 2025, Egypt is no longer allowing the import of devices that only run on 3G. This also applies to devices that use both 2G and 3G but don’t support newer technologies like 4G or 5G.
This new rule comes from Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and applies to the country’s radio and telecom sector. It’s part of Egypt’s shift away from older mobile networks toward faster, more reliable technologies.
Manufacturers and exporters must immediately stop shipping 3G-only and 2G/3G devices to Egypt. Any shipments that arrive after October 1 could be held up at customs or pulled from the market.
Going forward, businesses should focus on 4G- and 5G-capable devices that match Egypt’s current and future network standards.
