New Chinese EMC standard for IT- and AV equipment

The CQC (China Quality Certification Center) did recently issue a “Transition Notification” about the new version of the EMC standard GB17625 for electronic products and their accessories (including PSUs).
The new version of GB 17625.1(2022) published at the end of last year, is based on the international standard IEC 61000-3-2:2020 Limits - Limits for harmonic current emissions (equipment input current ≤16 A per phase), and replaces the version from 2012.

The key points in the Notification (which can be seen in full here) are:

 -    From the date of issuing the Notice until 30 June 2024, manufacturers can voluntarily choose to use either the new version or the old version of the standard for CCC certification. From 1 July 2024, only the new version of the standard shall be used for certification.

-    For products certified according to the old version of the standard, the certificate holder shall apply for certificate conversion to the new version of the standard between the implementation date of the new standard (i.e.1 July 2024) and the end of the first follow-up inspection.
The conversion must be completed before 30 June 2025 at the latest; or else, CQC will suspend the current certificates.
For certificates which have not been converted by 30 September 2025, CQC will have to cancel the certificates.

 -    For certified products which have been shipped out of the factory before 1 July 2024, put on the market, and no longer produced, certificate conversion is not required.

It may also be noted that CQC did earlier this year report that some product categories are no longer subject to the mandatory CCC certification, but may instead have voluntary CQC certification. It concerns low-power speakers, audio amplifiers, audio/video recording equipment, terminals for cordless phones/data/multi-media, intrusion detectors, and alarm controllers.
