As the share of imported versus exported electrical and electronic products in India is high and keeps increasing, the government has allocated substantial funding for a drastic development program. The ambition is to transform India into a global hub for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) in line with the National Policy on Electronics (NPE).
It is part of a high level plan governed by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeITY) to create a component supply ecosystem by strengthening the existing clusters and creating new clusters spread all over India.
Having had the head start in the ESDM sector, the historic city Mysore, the capital of the province Karnataka in the South-West part of India, was selected to set up such a cluster by the name Lahari.
The objective is to provide testing, quality & regulatory needs of the regional electronic industry, access better technology, and facilitate companies to climb higher on the product value chain. Lahari offers technologies and
methodologies to help the local electronic industry and encourage new investments and new product designs.
The Lahari Advanced Electronics Testing Facilities comprise accredited state-of-the-art laboratories with the capability for testing, amongst other, electrical safety, EMC, reliability, environmental aspects, and mechanical properties according to relevant national and international standards.

An operating partnership agreement has now been set up between Lahari and Nemko India.
With Lahari’s local capabilities, capacity, and resources combined with Nemko’s worldwide market access- and range of certification services, the clients of Lahari are getting timely and cost-effective access to more than 150 countries all over the globe. The aim is to service entire electrical and electronic industries such as IT equipment, household appliances, automotive, military & aerospace, to ensure compliance with relevant requirements from pre-compliance to product testing to international approvals.
