Yemen's MTIT Resumes Type Approval Operations for Telecom Equipment

The Republic of Yemen is a country in southern Arabia, bordering Saudi Arabia to the north, Oman to the northeast, the Arabian Sea to the east, the Gulf of Aden to the south, and the Red Sea to the west. Yemen is the largest country by population on the Arabian Peninsula with about 25 mill inhabitants. Sanaa is its constitutional capital and the largest city. 

After several periods of suspension, their Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MTIT) has now officially resumed its Type Approval operations. This marks an important reopening of the national approval system, allowing manufacturers and importers to once again submit and process applications for telecommunication and radio equipment.

MTIT has confirmed that all previously submitted applications are currently under review. The authority follows a first-come, first-served processing order, meaning that older applications are being handled first.

Apparently, MTIT's current workflow is such that many of the pending approvals are expected to be completed quickly.

The key points are:
• MTIT’s Type Approval system is fully operational.
• Previously submitted applications are actively being reviewed.
• Processing is based on chronological order (first-come, first-served).
• New and renewal applications are now accepted without restriction.
• Early submission is recommended to ensure a fast-processing slot.
