Supply Chain Disruption Due to Brexit

As of January 1, 2021, the UKCA mark is the conformity assessment marking needed for Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) for the majority of goods currently subject to CE marking. The CE marking will, however, be accepted until January 1, 2022 in most cases – although one is encouraged to start using UKCA marking as soon as possible.

While Brexit has impacted many industries, a manufacturer in the camera industry has made the decision to pause shipping to the UK until some clarity on trade is reached. The camera manufacturer, Nikon, is temporarily not taking new orders due to the changes brought on by Brexit and outstanding orders are also affected due to the red tape between the United Kingdom and the European Union.

In the midst of Brexit chaos, there have been massive shipping tariffs imposed on the United Kingdom, as well as physical queues of vehicles into and out of the nation, resulting in huge delays to order fulfillment – or even non-delivery altogether. Nikon isn’t the only business affected by this change. Enormous shipping tariffs and delays in physical movement if orders disrupt a manufacturer’s supply chain, which can lead to decreased productivity, increased costs, rising customer dissatisfaction, and more.
