Define your role within Nemko.
I am the Senior Project Manager for International Approval Services in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I am responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific market access projects while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget and within scope.
How did you choose this career path?
After my graduation, I landed my first job at Ultratech Group of Labs providing product compliance testing and certification for Radio/EMI/EMC/Safety for North America and European markets. I saw opportunities and was interested in global market regulations, requirements and certification beyond NA and EU regions. I intended to expand my knowledge and career in the field of Global Market Access. Thus, I applied for a GMA position with CSA Group in 2017 - 2021.
What do you enjoy most about your job at Nemko?
One of the things I enjoy most about working at Nemko is being able to work with my colleagues in the US and Canada. They are so friendly and supportive. I enjoy working at Nemko. Almost everything at Nemko is systematic. Within three weeks, I have learned so much about International Approval and through trainings from Nemko Portal.
Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
I have faced challenges and also learned my lesson. I realized the importance of communication and teamwork.
What do you think the industry will look like in 20 years?
International Approval service will continue to grow and expand. Technology is evolving so we need to keep up with changes and regulations.
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
I find it challenging to keep up with new regulations and changes in worldwide markets, but at the same time I feel rewarded when I can apply these changes and help our customers keep pace with a changing world so they can bring safe and innovative products to markets quickly and confidently.
What are some market trends you’re keeping an eye on?
Some markets I am keeping an eye on are Asia and South Africa countries. There is also a lot of development with PPE products and 5G and 6G technologies. It’s an ever-changing world we live in.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. My daughter is involved in sporting activities, so I enjoy watching her and participating in those events. I also enjoy volunteering, doing yoga, and jogging.
