The company Nemko Indonesia Assurance, in short PT NIA, (where “PT” corresponds in English to “Ltd”, i.e. a limited liability company) was on 6 August accredited by KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) as a testing laboratory in the field of Electro-magnetic Compatibility (EMC). With this, Nemko is the first testing and certification organization to receive KOLAS accreditation in Indonesia and the only KOLAS-accredited laboratory currently operating outside Korea.
The achievement represents an important step in expanding the Nemko Group’s global testing and certification network into Indonesia and Southeast Asia. It is as such a significant supplement to Nemko’s current Asian facilities and operations, in China, Korea, Japan and India.
The KOLA accreditation is based on compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 for quality assurance of laboratories. It covers the quality management system, the advanced test facilities, validated and controlled the test environment, and verified competence of the test engineers and other personnel. On the detailed technical level, KOLAS’ assessment covers:
Validation of test methods:
-
Evaluation of measurement uncertainty
-
Calibration and maintenance of test equipment
-
Competence evaluation of test engineers
-
Participation in proficiency testing programs
Nemko Indonesia is thereby in position to provide EMC testing services according to international requirements. The laboratory is located in Cikarang, which is one of Indonesia’s main industrial areas for the electronics- and automotive industries, including major Korean brands and many of their sub-supplier for various types of products, including television equipment and large electrical and electronic products.
By providing local international-level EMC testing and certification services, such customers must no longer send their products overseas for EMC testing, and they can thereby reduce overseas shipping costs, shorten testing time, and complete product development more quickly.
PT NIA is the only private testing laboratory in Indonesia with a 10 m EMC chamber. It has in addition a 3 m EMC chamber, a Radiated Susceptibility (RS) chamber and two Shield Rooms, and thereby is the largest EMC testing facility in Indonesia’s private sector.
One plans to expand the capabilities to offer also testing of product safety, Radio Frequency, and energy efficiency for helping to improve the quality of Indonesia’s electrical and electronics industry and support the product and export competitiveness of local companies for entering international markets. It is PT NIA’s ambition to be a leading testing and certification organization for the electrical and electronics industry in Southeast Asia.
