Updated consumer protection regulations in Singapore

The South-East Asian country Singapore is located at the south tip of the Malay Peninsula. It is an island-country and city-state, with one main island and > 60 satellite islands.
The population is about 6 mill, of which about 3/4 Chinese. The national language is Malay but also English, Mandarin and Tamil are official languages.
The Singapore Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO), which is the authority responsible for
implementing the Consumer Protection (safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR), was on 1 July transferred to the Competition & Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS). Previously the CPSO was overseen by Enterprise Singapore (a government board formed to support the development of Singapore's small and medium-sized enterprises.)
As a result of the change, a new version of Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations Information Booklet was at the same time published and made effective from 1 July.

The Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR) require 33 categories of household electrical, electronic and gas appliances & accessories, so called Controlled Goods, to be tested to specified safety standards, registered with the authority, and affixed with the official Singapore SAFETY Mark before the products can be sold on the consumer market. 

Amongst the updates in the new version of the booklet are:
- Updated CPSO’s contact details.
- Additional requirement #31 (Test for reversal of live-neutral polarities in tap off units).
- Amendment to the additional requirement #37 (The assessment verdict shall include photographs of the connecting joint and LPG
  nozzle).
