On-demand webinar: Cyber security required for CE-marking

Watch this webinar to get an introduction to the new EU Cyber Resilience Act as well as an easy-to-understand update on the cyber security requirements in the Radio Equipment Directive (RED).

    Why?

From August 2024, cyber security needs to be documented for products that need CE marking and are to be sold in Europe. This is a consequence of new requirements in the RED. But how do manufacturers conform to these new requirements?

In addition, a proposal for a new regulation was published in September: The Cyber Resilience Act. What is this act? And what are the consequences of it (besides introducing fines up to millions of euros)?

The purpose of this webinar will be to answer both of these questions.

Background: Cyber security in CE marking

The EU has decided to implement cyber security requirements in the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). The update of RED includes the implementation of Article 3.3. d, e and f, which introduces the following new requirements for wireless products:

    d. ensure network resilience
    e. secure personal data and privacy
    f. enhance protection from fraud

These requirements will be enforced on all wireless products being marketed from 1 August 2024 (including products being sold prior to this date). At Nemko, we therefore advice manufacturers to start preparing as soon as possible.

15 September 2022 a proposal for Cyber Security Act was published. This regulation will also put cyber security into the CE marking, but is having a scope beyond the Radio Equipment Directive, and is therefore expected to be replacing those requirements.
