What edition of IEC 62368-1 should I test my product to?

It depends on where you plan to sell your product. There isn’t one edition of IEC 62368-1 that is automatically accepted in every country.

The current international standard is IEC 62368-1:2023, 4th Edition, but countries and regions adopt new editions on different schedules. Australia and New Zealand, for example, recently adopted the 4th Edition as AS/NZS 62368.1:2026.

That’s why it’s important to identify your target markets before testing begins. A test laboratory with Global Market Access expertise can determine which editions apply in each country and develop a test plan that addresses multiple market requirements where possible—helping reduce unnecessary retesting, costs, and delays.
