Following the signing of the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) between Korea and Indonesia earlier this year for certification of telecom equipment (as reported in the June-issue of this newsletter), on 8-11September a delegation from the Indonesian government visited the Nemko Korea headquarter outside Seoul.
The visit was arranged at the invitation of the Korean National Radio Research Agency (RRA). During their stay, the delegation toured amongst other Nemko’s laboratory facilities and the RAPA IoT Technology Center and also participated in both theoretical and hands-on training on Korea’s KC certification (EMC and RF).

The leader of the delegation Mr. Adis Alifiawan from DJID (formerly SDPPI) remarked that “The ultimate purpose of the MRA is to facilitate trade. Nemko Korea’s designation as the first MRA implementation laboratory reflects its outstanding testing competence and Nemko Group’s international reputation.”

Nemko’s regional head for Asia. Mr. Y.B. Choi and Nemko Korea’s general manager, Mr. Steve Yang could share that Nemko’s branch in Indonesia (Nemko Indonesia Assurance - NIA) is currently under construction in Lippo Cikarang near Jakarta and is scheduled for completion in May 2026. Upon designation as an official DJID testing laboratory, NIA shall support timely market access for Indonesian manufacturers to Korea and strengthen the competitiveness of the local electrical and electronics
industry. The NIA shall in due course provide advanced testing technologies and training to the Indonesian state-owned testing laboratory IDTH (formerly BBPPT) and also cooperate to align Indonesian national standards with international standards.
Mr. Adis expressed strong supports to ensure the smooth operation of NIA and emphasized the importance of early investment in testing capabilities, especially for EMC and RF where Indonesia currently lacks capacity.

Nemko Korea provided theoretical lectures and practical training sessions on KC regulations and testing methods for the experts from IDTH. Participants directly experienced EMC and RF testing processes in the Nemko Korea laboratories. This program was intended to serve as an initial step towards stable implementation of the bilateral MRA.
