Define your role within Nemko.
I work as an ATEX and IECEx auditor, focusing on the technical evaluation of explosion-protected equipment and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. I also conduct factory inspections for products certified in the U.S. and Canada under  NRTL and CAN requirements, as well as perform CIG-023 audits to verify ongoing product and quality system compliance

How did you choose this career path?
With a BS in Electrical Engineering, I started testing for electrical and electronic products for the Telecom industry for a year. Then I was pulled into the inspection area of certified products and have worked in that field for about 23 years and travelled around the world between 10 and 11 months a year.

What do you enjoy most about your job at Nemko?
I feel relaxed working for Nemko as I am allowed to schedule my work and plan my trips, which makes it very efficient.

Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
Yes, the level of micromanaging that I went through in the past was very dampening to my productivity. Upper management listening to suggestions from employees is very critical for work.

What do you think the industry will look like in 20 years?
I feel like there will be more efficient, streamlined methods of making products safer in the market.

What do you find most rewarding about your role?
I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with the team and take pride in ensuring that our customers are fully satisfied with the services we provide.

What are some market trends you’re keeping an eye on?
AI is going to significantly impact our day-to-day lives. It is a can of worms that can be very beneficial for all or can be used in a way that makes life miserable. New strategies to be used in Nemko’s testing and certification arena.

When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I do my best to help the less fortunate, advise a bunch of college students in a fraternity, walk as much as I can to stay healthy, and spend time with my elder sister and friends.
