Define your role within Nemko.
I work in MSC (Management System Certification) as a staff member. I am mainly responsible for audit-related operations (i.e., processing for approval, issuing certificates, and arranging and preparing audits).
How did you choose this career path?
I have held similar positions in different fields, such as accommodations and logistics, and I have been involved in administrative work. Although it was my first time working in the current industry, I joined Nemko to make the most of my previous experience.
What do you enjoy most about your job at Nemko?
Everyone in my office is very friendly, allowing me to share opinions and ideas and challenging me to do various tasks. That’s what I enjoy about working on our team.
Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and other recent factors, the way we conduct our business, such as audit procedures, has changed. Our most significant challenges are responding flexibly to such changes, reviewing the existing structure, and promptly providing better services to our clients in line with current regulations and standards.
What do you think the industry will look like in 20 years?
With an aging population, society actively supports the elderly and the disabled. In recent years, ISO has established new structures and standards to protect these vulnerable consumers, and I believe that demand for such services will increase further in the coming years.
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
I find it most rewarding when a project that took several months to prepare is completed successfully and approved for certification without any problems. Of course, I cannot accomplish it by myself, as teamwork is essential, so it is gratifying to work with great supervisors and colleagues toward a goal.
What are some market trends you’re keeping an eye on?
In addition to significant standards such as ISO 9001, more industry- and field-specific standards have been issued these days, and it will be necessary for us to establish a new system to deal with it.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I mainly spend time with my family on my days off, and I also like playing the guitar or reading books.
