Project Engineer in the IT/AV department
Define your role within Nemko.
I am a safety project engineer in the IT/AV department. I am mainly responsible for the CB, N, GS, and NRTL certification of IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 and 62368-1 standards of the products. I’m sometimes responsible for the product compliance test report of the IEC 62684 standard.
How did you choose this career path?
In my first job, I worked as a safety engineer at a competitor. After working for 8 years, I went to Huawei device to be responsible for the safety certification of mobile phones and tablets. After 7 years at Huawei, my friend introduced me to Nemko Shenzhen, I joined Nemko Shenzhen company in 2019. I am very happy with my work, and I like my job as a safety engineer very much.
What do you enjoy most about your job at Nemko?
There are many things, good teams, friendly leaders, and colleagues who progress together. The main thing is that we work to make products on the market safer. Help customers' products quickly meet the IEC standard requirements, pass safety certification, and quickly enter the market.
Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
Project management. We have to work on multiple projects simultaneously, such as 6 to 8 projects at once. At this time, it is essential to arrange time reasonably. To complete important and urgent projects within a limited time and complete other projects within the time required by the client, are the challenges I must overcome and face.
What do you think the industry will look like in 20 years?
I think 20 years later, the certification industry will be better, with stronger companies and more reasonable standards. Hopefully, I can still write ITAV CB report in Nemko Shenzhen at that time.
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
The customer’s success and to help customers solve safety problems encountered in product certification.
What are some market trends you’re keeping an eye on?
In some countries, I am more concerned about the mandatory time for the corresponding standard of IEC 62368-1. Such as China, Korea, etc.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I have a family, a wife, and two children. I often go for a walk in the park with my family. Teach children to study and play games together.
