Define your role within Nemko.
I'm your contact for all accounts receivable type questions. This could be for invoices being approved/sent out to our clients, contacting them for payment, and resolving any issues on invoices where possible credits might be needed. Also, approving credit terms for new clients or reviewing/updating existing ones.
How did you choose this career path?
I've always been a numbers person and love the challenges accounts receivable brings to put all the pieces together a bit like puzzles. Nemko has provided a new industry to learn about and lots of self-development to continue my growth, which I love.
What do you enjoy most about your job at Nemko?
Every day is different. I love the daily challenges to help solve problems and the team support. Also, the work/life balance is a plus.
Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
Accepting that it's okay to fail and learn from the mistakes to become more experienced in my role.
What do you think the industry will look like in 20 years?
More access to newer countries or a more significant global footprint in the market. Possibly more automated measures/tactics to track accounts receivable closer. Nemko currently has dashboards to view in the new system implemented, which is one step in the right direction.
What are some market trends you’re keeping an eye on?
Keeping an open mind on better communication and how accounts receivable is changing within the market to maintain better receivables. Approval tactics on terms, too.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
Family is everything, and making memories with them is priceless. I also love to dance and read exciting books.
What does the average day in the life look like for you?
Daily approval/review of invoices, collecting of invoices, and term approvals as needed for new jobs in place. Working with sales closely to increase our numbers for revenue purposes. As we all know, a sale isn't a sale until it's paid.
What is your favorite song, show, or book at the moment?
My favorite song is Purple Rain by Prince. It's even more special now since my father-in-law has learned to play it on his guitar. My favorite book I've enjoyed is GRIT by Angela Duckworth.
