    Yuko-Hanafusa-(Hanna)-Round-HeadshotYuko Hanafusa (Hanna)

Sales Manager, Project Manager, and in-company Interpreter/ Translator.

    Define your role within Nemko.
I have multiple roles here at Nemko; I am a sales manager, project manager, and in-company interpreter/ translator.

How did you choose this career path?
I have worked as a sales representative in multi-media, publishing, and real estate industries and as an independent translator/ interpreter in the past. Having lived abroad for over ten years as a student made me not only bi-lingual but multi-cultural. My roles as project manager and interpreter benefit from being multi-cultural as I often work between Japanese manufacturers and Nemko labs abroad.

What do you enjoy most about your job at Nemko?
Learning new things every day, such as new countries, new regulations, and new products. I also enjoy interactions with Nemko colleagues from all over the world in which some have grown into true friendships I will cherish forever.

Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
Yes, always. Too many to mention. There is always so much to learn and stay on top of in this industry, so there are always new experiences to learn and grow from.

What do you think the industry will look like in 20 years?
I think there will be more demands for newer technologies and inventions. That means there will be a need for more product safety and cyber security.

What do you find most rewarding about your role?
The most rewarding thing I do in my role is to deliver certificates to our customers. Making sure that they are satisfied and happy with our delivery and making sure that we do everything we can for them.

What are some market trends you’re keeping an eye on?
I have always kept an eye on hazloc. There is still a lot to learn about Ex to ensure the safety of all products. Ex is found in almost all industries, so it is essential to keep an eye on this, so safety is the number one priority.

When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I love traveling, reading, cooking, wines, sports, art, films, and animals. Especially in sports, I enjoy trekking, climbing mountains, and kickboxing.
