Classification of Lasers

Nemko can perform safety testing for lasers according to the EN/IEC 60825-1 standard

Lasers are commonly used in the following products:

  • CD players
  • DVD players
  • CD-ROM
  • Printers
  • Copy machines
  • Pointers

Other applications include apparatus for making holographic pictures and arrangements for light effects in discotheques.

Laser diodes are also used as a signal source in fibre optical communication systems as well as various equipment used for medical treatment.

Nemko’s testing capability is currently limited to wavelength 380 – 1100 nm, and within the radiation power limit 3W.
