Some other Africa news
TUNESIAThe Tunesia Ministry of Communication Technologies (MOCT) has authorized the use of WiFi 6E (5925–6425 MHz) for RLAN (WiFi) services in Tunisia.,
This regulatory milestone shall enable the deployment of next-generation wireless technologies, offering faster internet speeds, improved connectivity, and enhanced user experiences. The Regulations are aligned with the European standard EN 303 687, which facilitates compatibility with globally recognized benchmarks.
NIGERIAThe Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) did earlier this year start having unprecedented delays in processing of applications for type approval of communication equipment. This was apparently largely due to an unexpected 50% tariff adjustment for the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and at the same time restrictions on waivers for submitting samples from applicants.
MADAGASCARThe Madagascar Regulatory Authority for Communication Technology (ARTEC) now requires submission of product samples for handling of applications for their approval and prepayment of their invoice before processing the application. These additional requirements do affect the lead time for ARTEC’s processing of approvals according to their regulations.
MALAWIThe Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is offering provisional type
approval certificates. Approval is based on test reports showing that the equipment complies with relevant standards, - is compatible with the authorized frequency bands, - is not causing interference with other communication services and - is not exceeding the maximum rated power (ERP). The provisional certificate validity is 6 months only but may by application to MACRA be extended 6 months twice.
